My cycle is crazy irregular. One month it lasts three weeks, the next 28 days, the next 34, then 26 days… One month my breasts are horribly tender, the next no pain at all (after a life of tender breasts before periods). It’s so unsettling; sometimes I don’t know how my body works anymore. Are you guys experiencing the same?

I am currently going through perimenopause and my period is all over the place sometimes my breasts hurt but it’s mostly my nipples that hurt the most.
Ari5 years ago
Yes!! About two months ago not only my breasts, but my nipples hurt so much! It’s crazy.
Emily5 years ago
OMG, that's me ?. Just started with the "WTF cycle" (54 days, then 21 days, then 90!), and with nipples that are super freaking sensitive and sore, constantly. I've resorted to wearing sturdy sports bras just to minimize "nipple movement". Yay perimenopause! (Not.)

Hi everyone! I’m so glad to feel like I’m not alone. My periods are all over the place too. My last period was about 5 days long but came 17 days after the last period. It concerned me so I went to see gynecologist. Blood test confirmed I’m entering peri menopause but she wants to do a biopsy and a pelvic exam. Now I’m freaking out. I’m 49 and my mom and sister had periods every 2 to 4 weeks during peri menopause. Looks like I’m following their patterns but I’m getting tested. Has anyone experienced early cycles as well?
Arireplying to Veronica5 years ago
Yup. Just my last period was not even two weeks after the last one. Granted, the last one was VERY light, but still. It’s incredibly frustrating.

I am so glad I found this app…. You ladies are describing me perfectly! I literally feel like I am losing my mind most days and I have no drive to do anything…. I feel like I am always exhausted and just in a total fog. I drink caffeine to try to survive the day but I know that isn’t good either. Has anyone tried any of the supplements in the drug store for perimenopause? I didn’t know if it was worth the money or not.

I am going through this right now. I had my period for 8 days, had no blood for 5 days and now on day6 of bleeding g again. I ran to the dr in a panic and now it’s this whole big thing with a possible biopsy and ultrasound. I’m seriously freaking out
Lisareplying to Veronica4 years ago
Yes I got a normal cycle. Five days later I got another one. My gyno is making me get tested too. It’s very scary
Christie5 years ago
Yes, yes, and yes! One of my favorite sayings is, “don’t ask me; I just live in this body.” I have no clue what’s going to happen or how I’m going to feel from one day to the next and I’m having a heck of a time finding a pattern.
Michele, Wisconsin5 years ago
Yes!! I’m 49 and going through identical symptoms for about 2 years. My last cycle lasted 40 days. Nothing makes sense anymore and it seems every month a new symptom shows up. This month it’s aching joints and terrible insomnia. I tell my doc and she’s just like “yeah, that’s gonna happen. Good luck”. WTF
Ari5 years ago
WTF indeed. Why can’t they be more attuned to our needs?
Tonia5 years ago
Hi All, You are preaching to the chorus here! After several months of irregular periods, headaches, cramping that was unbelievable just on one aide of my body, I finally went to my doctor. He order tests. Everything was in good health he said and then said oh yeah by the way you’re in peri-menopause too. ? what the heck did that mean. I am going to be all over the place until my period cycle end completely? What!?
Kate5 years ago
Absolutely!!! Sometimes I feel like a beached whale and then other months normal. Then it’s tender breasts, bra is too tight. Feel nauseated. Insomnia, anxiety to name but a few. Then the next couple of months - zero!!! This morning I woke up, tired, silent and grumpy and that is not me. I’m very much a morning person. Given the amount of vitamins and yoga and exercise I’m doing I expect to feel like Maria from The Sound of Music!!! But seriously, I thought all these things would help and I’m using the Ladycare Plus Pebble. I guess our bodies are going to do exactly what they want. At least we are trying and hope it elevates the symptoms. Stay strong x
Ari5 years ago
Who can solve a problem like Maria? I’m sure not even Maria could solve her own peri menopause problems. Sigh.
Joy5 years ago
Exactly the same here but apart from keeping an eye on it ( we’re all using this app so that’s done) I’ve decided not to get too worried about it. Yes, it’s wierd not having a consistent monthly cycle not to mention the unusual new symptoms but apparently that’s completely normal in its own way. Trying not to get too stressed and acceptance is working for me.
Mandy5 years ago
That’s me as past 2 years .... it’s a royal pain m the arse
Jules5 years ago
I can so relate to this, you are definitely not alone. I have always felt like I have been very in tune with my body and my cycle up until now. I am now 41 and perimenopausal and honestly no longer know what to expect from one month to another. I have been with my husband for 20 years and I never took the pill or used any other type of contraceptive as I was so confident in where I was in my monthly cycle (risky I know but it worked and I only fell pregnant when planned). We have three children and earlier on this year my husband had a vasectomy as we decided that we were complete as a family and we wanted to be a bit more relaxed about things moving forwards. Thank goodness really as I could definitely not tell where I am in my cycle anymore or if I’m even ovulating. I feel like I am living in a different body. Every cycle is different and my symptoms are all over the place. I’ve recently started to log my symptoms monthly to see if I can see any pattern at all x
Ari5 years ago
That’s exactly why I got this app. Because not only the cycles, but my mood!! I’ve never been this moody, grumpy, and especially on the day my cycle begins, emotional.
Lauracreplying to Ari4 years ago
This is me too! The moods are awful! Some days I’m aware other days not…it’s really hard meanwhile physical stuff too
Laura5 years ago
this was me when I started perimenopause at 42/43. women in my family do start young. i’m now 46 and every month my period alternates. I now use health app to trace symptoms and flow and prediction not just for periods anymore but symptoms. I noticed mine rotate each month which is super frustrating. life of a woman!
Ari5 years ago
I know. Just when you think you know, you don’t. Frustrating is a soft word for it.
Patty from Hammond5 years ago
Yes to all the above yet my periods are a few months apart and last a lot longer
cj5 years ago
yes and with my hysterectomy I am struggling to know when my “cycle is” since i still have my ovaries but I am def jn early menopause
Carric5 years ago
I have struggled with the same issue. Had a hysterectomy years ago and now going through menopause. At first I could still tell when I was cycling and now I can’t tell. I am all over the place. On hormones my natural path puts together at the compound pharmacy which has helped with the million of hot flashes, night sweats I was having, now I’m just cold all the time. Seems everyday I have some weird symptom pop up.
Nikki5 years ago
Absolutely understand and sympathise. I use to have a 28 days cycle like clockwork. Then five months ago, bam! No period for 68 days, then it was horrendous for 3 weeks of bleeding. Then 2 weeks later another light period (2 days). I’m emotional and my joints in my hips and knees ache as well as my back at times. Now I have this new symptom of bleeding after being intimate, which I’m assuming is because by body just isn’t getting rid of all the lining because my Period is so irregular and not always a proper period. Its all very worrying and causes me so much anxiety
Ari5 years ago
That’s really upsetting; I’m so sorry! Let’s hope it doesn’t last long.
Veronica5 years ago
I’m so sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed! Being a woman is hard as we get older with such unpredictable cycles. It’s like our bodies are super hyper-sensitive to every feeling we have.
Aurora5 years ago
Same here. It went on for almost a year before I could get a doctor to confirm that it was pre menopause. Now I started tracking my symptoms and see I’m not the only one with strange things going on.
Traci-vegas4 years ago
Same!
Max5 years ago
Well that sounds just like me - one minute I have no periods for months and then every 3 weeks, sore boobs, just one sometimes (usually the left), anxiety through the roof and wind, bloating and not recognising who I am any more, then in a day I can be elated and can take on the world as the old me, then 12 hours later, the other “me” pushed forward and off we go again with aching joints, bent fingers and fatigue- oh and waking up for no reason just to lay there and question what woke me up and why can’t I get back to sleep - however I am also embracing it the best I can and trying to love myself - keep strong ladies we are all going to get through this together on the app - I couldn’t do it without it xx?

Wow , reading this is so validating. I’m 49 and that’s exactly me.
Bethany, Santa Fe, New Mexicoreplying to Dee L4 years ago
Me too 49 but already past that part. I live in Santa Fe, NM my GYN said “you are not even in Perimenopause in 12/2020. I had to get a biopsy done due to abnormal Pap smear. Went to a different GYN said due to my hormones & lack of period (now 8 years earlier last month) one year with absence of period qualifies for menopause NOT peri. Did hormone treatment yep I was in full menopause. So confusing when MD’s cannot even use same diagnostic criteria for something this simple!!!
Lisa5 years ago
Yep me too, I use starflower oil 1000mg a day for the breast pain , recommended highly by a breast surgeon colleague, takes about 2 weeks to settle but works amazing
Nikky5 years ago
I blame everything on my hormones. Everyday is different.
Lisa5 years ago
I had no period for 189 days then had one for about 4 weeks!! Then nothing for 298 day and I thought nearly a year ..... but today I have spotting but have the famous back ache!! Im 52 and my mum Nan and sister all had a hysterectomy so no one to even compare to.
Lisa5 years ago
Hi there! This is exactly what I have been experiencing. I went 10 months without a period then got one for 17 days that was so heavy and mine is the famous headache before I start. Went another 8 months and was in denial about this terrible headache I was having but I should have known. My family is going through enough without adding my peri-menapause to the mix! After the 8 months it’s only been 4 months, but it’s stupid heavy and so annoying. I got my period at 9 and I’m 51. SO READY TO BE OVER THIS PART!!! Like you my mom had a hysterectomy really young and I’m an only child. Nobody to compare my experiences to, that’s why I’m trying this app! Hang in There Ladies!!
Ren5 years ago
Yes. I’m 46 and being peri-menopausal means that I’m very irregular. I won’t see my periods for 2-6 months and when it does arrive it lasts for 10-23 days (usual cycle was 4 days every 28 days). I’ll experience periods for 2-3 month then they’ll disappear again for 2-6 months! Add in a range of symptoms including hot flushes, dizziness, digestive issues, breast pain, electric shock sensations, back and joint pain, breathlessness. From one day to the next I don’t know what my body will present me with!
Jewels5 years ago
Yes. It’s driving me nuts. Acupuncture helps with heart palpitations and a host of other stuff. I wish it was over already and I only just started...
Peg5 years ago
I’m 39 and started this peri process a few months back! So many people say ‘oh you’re so young though!’ Uh yeah thanks....I can’t control my body. My period is becoming irregular which it never has been. The insomnia is not pleasant, thought I was past that! Ha the random hot flashes and irritability are my two worst things though. Oh and random nausea when I’m starving. Thats super fun. My body is like ‘lady, what you doing?!’ Thank you for all these comments and posts so reassuring to know I’m not alone in this crazy town of body changes!
Gin3 years ago
I get that too. I turned 40 last year and since December have had irregular cycles along with really sore breasts, bloating, emotional, headaches etc. my doc even didn’t consider it could just be perimenopause. I’m getting an ultrasound on my breast as it’s quite dense which scares me. But feels to me more like before you get your period. I feel like I know my body and now it’s all over the place!
JK5 years ago
I’m in that club too!! I’m 47 and was a pretty regular 27-28 day girl until a couple of years ago. Now my cycles are anywhere between 18 and 51 days. Usually I have a few relatively normal length cycles but at least twice a year a much longer one, often followed by a very short one. In the long cycles I also get hot flushes during the day. The rest of the year only at night thankfully! Re sore boobs and extra sensitive nipples. Yes! I was having very sore boobs from the middle of my cycle until period - then I cut down on alcohol consumption and that has gone back to a ‘normal’ tenderness for just a few days before period. Nipples were also crazily sensitive during the sore boob periods. Nice to hear I’m not alone!!! Looking forward to no more periods and hoping hormones settle down quickly!
Sarah joy5 years ago
My period is so erratic ,one month I go two weeks between periods The next time I go five, i’ve never been very regular but it would be nice to know if I can wear white pants without having a surprise cycle.
Lisa4 years ago
This is me now. I had my period for 8 days it stopped and five days later I am in period number 2. Was your sr concerned about only 5 days between?
Ficon5 years ago
Last mth it was a week late. This mth 5 days early
Clare5 years ago
I suspect I’m in Perimenopause. I’m 43 and my periods are sometimes every 3 weeks, then every 2 weeks. They used to last 5 days Like clockwork and now last 2-4 days. I’ve also got an awful acid taste in my mouth which is driving me insane. I suspect this is hormonal too as it’s worse just before my period. I’ve cut out dairy and acidic foods and basically have a really limited diet right now. What I can eat tastes awful. There is no joy in food anymore. Has anyone else had the acid taste? My mum has the same thing in menopause. I have an endoscopy next week to check things out. I’ve also had the odd night sweat and awful bouts of anxiety, that I’ve never had before - crying all the time for no reason or a feeling of utter panic. Usually for 24 hours. It’s awful. All this is really starting to get me down to be honest. I’m so glad I found this app!

I am 43 and have no period and dr says I am in menopause so this app has helped explain some symptoms I didn’t know was related to menopause.
LLuLLu3 years ago
Do you have any or did you experience symptoms? Or did you simply go into menopause without this nightmare of symptoms many (ME ABSOLUTELY INCLUDED) have?
Caz4 years ago
So glad to hear others have such varied and changing symptoms. I’m 54 had my last proper period in March, had fairly normal periods before that and then just nothing. Had hot flushes, night sweats quite intense, with occasional sore breasts and constipation , then in September had the lightest period possible for 3 days. Flushes stopped?♀️ But the bloating, trapped wind, constipation and burning sensation in throat completely out of control. So fed up, everything feels uncomfortable.
Melony4 years ago
Sorry, this is a lot, but it starts with the irregular periods. I’m 48, and the last two years have been somewhat of a rollercoaster. Crazy irregular periods after being clockwork for most of my life. Some months no period at all, sometimes two periods! Thankfully, they are light. I have hot flashes and night sweats, haven’t used my down comforter in a couple of years. Never want to turn the radiator on, and the my boyfriend says it’s cold. Gained 15+ lbs mostly in midsection despite putting in same effort initially, and now seem to have lost all capacity to run like I used to. This after qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2018 and then running it in 2019. I’m a shadow of my former self! I have no motivation, and have trouble focusing. No libido, I’m almost positive my clitoris is smaller than I used to be! I wake up sometimes around 4 or 5, but I’m usually able to get back to sleep, so overall my sleep is good. My one respite, until…. I finally went to see gynecologist about HRT, and he prescribed Prempro (0.625/2.5). I could feel it doing something immediately, but I didn’t like it. It messed with my sleep. I felt kind of wired, and despite sleeping felt like I hadn’t really gotten a wink and I still felt wired. After less than a week I asked for something different, maybe a lower dose? He has now prescribed similar strength progesterone (Provera) tabs and an estradiol transdermal patch (Vivelle-Dot) which I start tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Wish me luck. I also asked about testosterone for the fatigue and no/low libido, and he said let’s change one thing at a time.
Ari4 years ago
I really hope that helps. Fingers crossed!

My new mantra after 5 years of menopause-expect the unexpected!
Laurac4 years ago
Yup. Maybe 3 months ago realized my clockwork body was shifting and the physical signs have gotten far worse or more acute, or maybe I’m more aware too and learning how a lot of my physical stuff is related to hormones and shifts within me. Found this app today, really happy to see and opp to connect with others going through similar.

Hi does anyone have change in taste? I have an odd taste constantly the last few days. Anyone else?
