I’ve been experiencing an inter-vaginal itch, but in one specific spot. I’ve tried lubes and creams but they seem to make no difference. The doctor says there’s nothing wrong, but it’s driving me nuts! Has anyone else experienced this too?– Jolange, Scarborough

Yes! It was very distressing initially. I’m so sorry you have this too. I’m on HRT now and used prescription Vagifem it’s estradiol vaginal type suppository / insert. Attending a specialist consultant gynaecologist. Much improved. Flares up now and again. I can’t see if mine is same as you but perhaps it’s some info and you could ask or explore.

Same here! I was given hyalofemme gel for the inside by the clinic and epidaderm ointment for the outside. The combination of the two has solved the itch problem 99% of the time. Also used to get repeated UTI ‘s because of the dryness but they’ve eased off now too. I have to use the gel every other day and the ointment 3 times a day which is more often than suggested but it’s worth it. I think sometimes you have to try a number of things to find one that works for you. Good luck! X

I had to start taking probiotics again and than has things resolved for now. Higher dose than I used to take. My understanding is that hormonal changes impact how well different bacteria can live in the vagina. So for me the healthy bacteria/probiotics was the first thing I tried

About three weeks, I developed itching and redness, so I thought I had developed a yeast infection and apply Vaseline and baby powder to relief the discomfort. I also read that decrease of estrogen impacts the good bacteria which leads to yeast infections. I took Monistat, but didn’t go away 100%. The same week, I went to the Dr., and the test came negative for a YI, but positive for a mild UTI. I took antibiotics and after two weeks I still had mild itching and redness. Sex was very painful. It’s been about three weeks now and I feel better. As a preventative, I now switched to wearing boxers instead of panties when I sleep and remove sweaty clothes right after working out. Cool temperature and cotton underwear prevents yeast from growing. I hope this helps you and you can find relief as well.

Me too! It’s awful. My doc thinks it’s herpes but antivirals aren’t helping. What cream are you using to help?

I have this problem too. My doctor gave me a cream that helps, but it doesn’t seem to go away completely. It’s actually a relief when it starts to get sore.

It may be worth considering taking a herb called Shatavari. It is a moistening herb. Pukka sell it on its own and it is also included in their Menopause serenity. The itch is likely to be due to a drop in oestrogen causing dryness. There’s nothing worse than an annoying itch at the best of times!

My guess is it is change in the skin of the vagina. I have this often and it cycles with my cycle. Most irritating mid month and right before my period. No yeast, no bacteria. What is it?? Could be dryness, fungal infection, sensitivity to discharge. I don’t know. I pretty much stay on a homeopathic yeast supplement and will wear a lite tampon to catch discharge. Probiotics can help so can decreasing sugar, gluten, carbs, and dairy in the diet.

Well I’m having this itch that I would describe as being on the edges of the vaginal lips on both sides that sometimes effects the clitoris and it drives me crazy. I’ve had the same sexual partner for years and our sex life has deminished drastically so I’m not worried about a transmitted disease. My doctor gave me a cream because she said too much moisture and it helps a little but not really. I’m itch crazy and want this to go away!
