Does any one get extremely gassy and bloated?? Constipation, but still going a lot? Worse indigestion if you already had it, and worsening PMS?? I also have pre-existing anxiety and depression, a possible kidney stone, and I’m going through a pending divorce. So how do I know what is what with all this? I’m a mess! And my OBGYN prescribed Provera without checking my labs!!

I am 15 months post hysterectomy and in instant menopause as they took everything. I’ve noticed a lot of bloating and gas since. My indigestion has been worse too. My PCP says not to worry as menopause can make things “worse”. My anxiety went through the roof too and am now on meds that has been very helpful. I’m also finding that exercising regularly, meditation , and hydration has helped me more than anything. I have a wonderful PCP who specializes in women’s health that has been more help to me than my ob. Hopefully, you can find a dr you feel comfortable talking with and will listen.

A lot of the time labs won’t tell you if you are in perimenopause. From the symptoms you’ve listed it does sound like you are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause. Be grateful your doctor at least prescribed you something to help with your symptoms.

Yes. I think I am in perimenopause, am 47 though have Mirena so hard to know. I have also experienced constipation for about a year & it seems to get worse when I think I would be having a period. Same thing which sounds like a contradiction, but go a lot just in small amount, v annoying! Even had a colonoscopy as was worried, which was normal. Fybogel helped, also magnesium citrate which I am taking to help the muscle pain & burning joints I am also experiencing. Plus pears, kiwi fruit and lots of water! Hope this helps.

I am 49 and am experiencing a lot of these things. Mainly bloating and gas most recently. Not constipation - actually the opposite. Also anxiety but I initially thought this was down to covid worry but perhaps is made it worse?! Struggling to concentrate on work and I also find tasks that I would normally find easy are a struggle. I am considering asking my GP for help but really don’t want to as I don’t want to go to the surgery for fear of covid.

Lily I can relate to a-lot of your symptoms, specially the anxiety moods. I went on vacation two weeks ago n I couldn’t stand myself n made others day miserable! So you are not alone.

I am 54 and have been experiencing these symptoms too. My overriding issue at the moment is the joint and muscle aching. It feels like flu and keeps me awake at night. I take cold and flu remedy pills which ease it a little but it comes right back. Is this a symptom?
Bassmamma5 years ago
That sounds like inflammation due to too much sugar. Take a rain check on that and try not to eat after 8pm. A healthy veg rich diet will reduce aches and pains. My rheumatic aches have gone

I also am having terrible flu like symptoms and it’s very confusing - is it the flu, is it COVID, is it a cold, is it allergies, is it menopause? My money is on menopause. The hot flashes are disconcerting, I’ve heard it described you’re suddenly in a sauna and then you’re out. I feel like someone is turning the heat up slowly and then it lasts for like 15 minutes at least 5-10 times a day. I take my temperature and don’t have one. I was taking black kohosh and thought that helped but ran out. I have an appt sign ob gyn next week, I’m hoping she can prescribe something. Irritability through the roof also. Being quarantined for a year and going through menopause is not a good recipe. May we all get through this! ?

That’s exactly how my hot flashes feel. Like someone is turning up the heat to 1000. I then get very sweaty! It’s terrible!

It’s hard to tell- from what I’ve been told by older friends it’s only I’m looking back that you can diagnose when you started perimenopause. I’ve been having a lot more gas and bloating plus muscle/joint aches in my legs and elbows.
Stacey5 years ago
I don’t have gas and indigestion. I eat a lot of fruit and dark leafy vegetables. I drink plenty of water and herbal teas. I also take black seed oil which is suppose to be good for joint pain. It must work because at 49 I don’t have joint pain at all. I’m very active and so a lot of walking 3 days a week. Hope this help someone.

So sorry to hear. Menopause can be so challenging! I’ve been experiencing anxiety throughout the days since last year and hate it! There are great apps out there that help. Try “Balance”. Also a good CBD can help.

I am 48 - have bloating- a lot of unexplained pains and general feeling unwell - have anxiety constantly feeling like I am speaking with the gp for new illness’s or pains! Having itching and dryness issues but my gp will not test my hormones yet - need to get my mirena coil removed first and not have a new one put back in so they can see what’s happening with periods - don’t get hot flashes but seem to get cold flashes where I feel freezing but my face feels hot!?!?

New here, feeling confused! Hysterectomy almost 20 yrs ago, still have ovaries though. I’m 53 yrs old. How do I know if this is menopause? Feeling: bloated, hand/feet/joint pain, itchy skin, heart palpitations, fatigue and a sudden loss of waistline! Super sore breasts once a month, gaining weight by changing nothing! No hot flashes or insomnia, mood swings. Dr. no help. Too tired to exercise, which is new and different. Doesn’t sound convincing for a traditional menopause stage, right? Or..... thought? ?

From all the research ive been reading lately, there are NO 2 stories alike! All are somewhat similar but none are just alike. so yes it sounds like you may be experiencing menopause but that’s just my personal uneducated opinion. just didn’t want you to feel alone. Never give up

On 3/15/2021, I was feeling nauseous and I had a bowel movement at the same time! My mom said that I was probably constipated. I have also had a uterine cancer scare. The right ovary is normal. The left ovary had some cells in it. But it has since been resolved, no cancer. That was 10/2020. The MD said that I was peri menopausal. Thanks for reading this.

I am 50 and gone past all those. I have not had a period for a year so I guess I am in full menopause now. I do still have the bloating but I have found that taking high rated vitamin d has helped with my joints and using magnesium body lotion has relieved a lot of the symptoms especially at night. For the anxiety symptoms I have been using lavender and jasmine oils. Hopefully these tips can help you. X

Magnesium did wonders for my hot flashes and night sweats, but when I got my Pfizer booster, they came back two days later. They’re not as bad as they were, but they are throwing my sleep off. Argh.

I will be 49 in May. I had the surgery endometrial ablation done approx 15yrs ago so I haven’t had an actual period since then but was told by my obgyn that I was going through perimenopause back in my 30s. I think I’m in menopause now due to all my symptoms but not positive. In the last year I started having anxiety, trouble sleeping, extreme fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, night sweats, hot and cold flashes with nausea, constipation, bloating, gassy, achy joints, hormonal cystic acne, uneven skin tone on my neck and arms (white spots), dry itchy skin, sore boobs once a month, hair loss, brittle nails, headaches, ears and feet feel like they’re burning sometimes, swollen feet, ankles and hands, wake up to numb tingling hands, ringing in my ears, I cry very easy now, and pee easily now too if I just hear the sound of water! always seem thirsty even though I drink more water now and crave sugar big time, I’m sure there’s more, but I believe that’s enough symptoms of all the changes my body has been going through! Why does Estroven have to cost $20 a box?!! Tried hormone replacement but gave me bad leg cramps and restless leg syndrome so had to quit that. Any suggestions? Doctors always try to tell me I’m too young for menopause but nurses say I’m not and how everyone is different

Yes! I’ve taken to sleeping with the head of bed raised and a tub of Tums on the bedside table and between the two, it’s helped a lot. I’ve also cut out pastry as I found that made it a LOT worse!

Hi I’ve experienced hot flushes, brain fog, fatigue, stomach, joint, kidney, skin and muscle problems, while they may all be connected to the menopause I think we should be careful that something important is not missed. I take the individual symptoms to my GP, as a result I know I have diverticulitis and chronic kidney disease. So I am looking after me: menopause me and CKD me and diverticulitis me. Often times the care is the same: stretches, walking, healthy food little and often .. take care looking after YOU ladies.

Had a stroke 18 years ago age 31 had 2 boys and on more meds than I know what to do with. I’m not sure if my symptoms are side effects from the meds or menopausal. My PCP is brilliant but I’m not sure if it might be worth reducing my meds so we can see what is going on.

Shannon, my heart goes out to you. I have similar questions myself. I turned 51 this years and it feels like a switch has been turned on and things have changed for me emotionally and physically. I seem to be gassy in the mornings but instead of constipation very soft stools. Anxiety has settled in and borders on panic at time and I’ve never experienced this before. Periodic heat flashes and weight loss due to poor appetite. Actually I could do with loosing a few pounds so that’s been the only slightly positive. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Just know you’re not alone in your symptoms.

New here, I’m 54 and all confused. Is it menopause? My period seem to have stopped 3 months ago. I’ve been feeling nauseous for a while now. I can’t focus. I feel tired that sometimes I can’t exercise. My major problem is feeling nauseous all the time. I get some hot flashes but not so much probably because I take vitamin D3. I hear it helps.

Hello, I’m 54 and I had an ablation in my early 40’s because I was anemic all the time. I’ve had anxiety and depression problems almost all of my life. My symptoms started with insomnia, then the forgetfulness. Now at the same time my 20 year marriage was ended during this time and I was also diagnosed with a rare migraine problem. Of course not one of my doctors said anything about menopause. But once I was able to reduce my stress and really concentrate on myself. I was able to say okay these are menopause symptoms not because I’m stressed out. The hot flashes started last year and the feeling of heat coming of my chest feels bad. Of course I had a history of reflux, so when that got even worse I had to make some diet changes. So now I try to do all the things someone else listed. I just wished someone could have told me that going to a almost plant based diet, exercising, drinking water, and getting a goodnight sleep oh and don’t forget to pray and meditate. Would help with my symptoms enough that I don’t find the need to go back to eating meat. I can do this and so can you!

I am 45 and had breast cancer 6 years ago so have been on Tamoxifen ever since. The medication pushes you into the menopause and whilst doing this gives you all the symptoms of menopause, so I have been having these for the past six years, with my worst symptoms being severe anxiety and insomnia. I have Ben taking anxiety medication for this for nearly three years and it has helped me significantly. However, over the past three months my periods have stopped any I have been experiencing different symptoms: I feel tired all the time and my head constantly feels like cotton wool, I have little energy and constantly suffer from muscle and joint pain, I feel bloated all the time and although I only eat one meal a day, I have put on weight. I feel like my body is always carrying water retention and honestly only feel half human for one week a month!! Due to my breast cancer and the tamoxifen I am not able to use HRT, or any of the herbal supplements that people have talked about as they all affect the hormones and will counteract the tamoxifen (which by the way is the most awful drug. It does what it needs to do, but the side effects are just plain nasty). Reading everyone’s comments on here has been so helpful, it’s so good to hear that I’m not alone and that other people are experiencing the same as me (not sure good is the right word, but you know what I mean). So apologies for the LONG message but it would be great to hear from anyone who is in the same position as me and to hear about their experience and anything they may do to relieve these awful symptoms. Oh the joys of being a woman!! Keep Doing what you’re doing ladies and keep Smiling, even when you really don’t want to..

Im 44 and have two kids aged 18 and 12. My hormones are apparently fine so far- blood test done. However, I experience sudden hot flashes that last a minute ir two. Not long and not intense. Also at night Im either too hot ir too cold the whole night long it seems. My period is also quite irregular no for past 18 months. I guess Im premenopausal..

My name is Brenda. I had a hysterectomy about 4 years ago. I’m 51 years old. At the start of summer I began to experience extreme hot flashes. Night sweets. My waist line tripled in size in 5 months. My joints hurt so bad. I feel like I have memory loss. My head itches. I get headaches every day. My eyes are very dry. Am moody irritated and I have no sex drive. I’m tired all the time. I lack energy. I cry for no reason sometimes. At first I thought it might be my Bipolor meds, but I’ve been on the same meds for years. I finally made an appointment to a doctor and she told labs , but I don’t see her again for a month and a half. I think am going through menopause. I have all the symptoms. I’m so scared because I don’t have a clue what to do from here. I hurt, I’m fat, I’m tired, depressed, and idk. Help. Does this sound like menopause to you? What should I do from here? Please someone help me?
