My changing skin

I’ve always had fairly average skin (spots as a teen, etc), but the last few years things have gone downhill fast. I’m breaking out like a teenager in some places, but have chronically dry skin in others. I expected wrinkles as I age, of course, but this is… something else. Anyone found a regimen that works for their menopausal skin?

I have found my skin being the same. And I started using tropic - I now am an ambassador because they work so well - especially the hydrating serums and skin dream. Hope that helps

I use tropic too and have done for a few years. I love it. I have recommended it for mr friend who suffers with rosacea and menopausal acne and the difference has been amazing. X

I’m am thinking of buying some tropic the dream night cream, when I was looking on the web site it asked who is my ambassador? Can I use your name?

    • Poppyred6 years ago

I’m going to try these, I use the ordinary range because they are vegan, but just googled Tropic and they are too. Can I ask would these products be good for skin with rosacea?

Really like Liz Earle and have definitely found the whole range really great. I have noticed a huge difference since using the three step regimen ?

I use (and have always used) products with retinol. It is my skin LIFE LINE! They don’t have to be the expensive items either. Will your skin tolerate it? If so, I can give some specific product recommendations. ?

The breakouts of cystic acne on my chin have become unbearable ? I’ve been to the docs who prescribed a retinol gel and I’m also using tea tree face wash and now glycolic acid wipes to try to keep them under control. They’re so sore and red they really get me down. Added to that I’m now sprouting course hairs in a small patch at the side of my chin.

I had cystic acne for years. The only thing which works is Roaccutane. It’s a brutal drug. I had all the side effects and needed three courses over two years. It works though. I get the odd thing but no lumps except for one last week which coencided with loosing our dog, and it was gone within a few days. Take yourself to a dermatologist and get it sorted. It had a massive impact on my mental health and self esteem. I still have to work at my skin by limiting dairy and good products etc, but ultimately the only thing which changed my skin situation was medication. Don’t suffer. The pain of the side effects is worth it. Best wishes ?

I was the same was a bit worried about taking that medication but luckily only got really dry lips as a side effect. Skin is so much better now, glad I took the course, was on it for a year.’ I use skiinsense regime now and can’t fault them. The neck cream is amazing as I was getting a wrinkly neck!

I use Almond oil for any areas of break out - I put it on affected facial areas at night before bed - it’s a little greasy and I worried it would make things worse, but it’s been great for me, really calms any redness in the breakout areas overnight, and clears spot areas quickly - my daughter uses it too for her teenage breakouts!

I am going to give this a try. Thanks

For emerging spots I use a tea tree oil stick (Tisserand) for topical application and I wish I’d known about it as a teenager as it fends it off no problem (for my teenage son too)... LAB Beauty do a LED face mask with different light treatments - the blue light sorts any skin issues (often on offer on QVC). I’ve also invested in Elemis skincare... the rose spray in particular sorts any hot flushes and the aroma is really uplifting.

Hey, I’m interested in the rose spray you mention, helping with your hot flushes. I’ve googled though and can’t find it. Can you tell me exactly what it’s called please?

    • Anonymous6 years ago

Hi Pand, l’m also interested in the Rose Spray for the hot ? flushes ? seems to be getting worse for me!! ?

    • Liz6 years ago

Hi I also use the rose Elemis range Iv been using the oil pods and they have made my skin glow as my skin was so dry . I have also swapped from using ordinary shower and bath gels to using shower oil it’s made a massive difference. Also garnier do a body lotion for really dry skin which works and soaks in quickly and isn’t sticky

Is it the tea tree and aloe stick by Tisserand?

My skin had always been greasy and spot prone but became really dry. Like most others on here I’ve been using retinol at night (The Ordinary) and my skin has become more plumped and it looks great. Start with a low percentage and work up as it can dry your skin out at first. I now cleanse & tone in the evenings even if I haven’t worn make up and before I apply the retinol. I wear a moisturiser with a high SPF during day as retinol can make skin more sensitive. I tend to go for recommendations from friends and if the products are expensive seek out the cheaper alternatives. Aldi do amazing versions of Liz Earl and Pixi. Avon anew cleansing balm is a fraction of the price of the Emma Harris one and my skin feels nourished after using it.

You need to get into Zo skincare! Give it a Google, watch some videos & find a clinic! It’s an amazing product. Slightly expensive but I don’t drink or smoke! Sending love! X

I love the ZO Skincare line. Wash, exfoliate, tone and protect!

Haven’t had the break outs, but have really dry skin everywhere! I am applying nivea (only cream that seems to hydrate) three times a day or feel like my face will crack!

I feel like my skin is this dry as well. It is windy and cold and dry outside but I’ve noticed my skin dryer than ever. Can’t wear my wedding ring as it has cut my finger raw from this dryness.

I seemed to develop rosacea and full skin, it’s not as bad as some folk get, it is worse leading up to and during my time of the month. I cannot use just any products being vegan, I use The Ordinary range, they are really good and cheap. Cater for all skin types and regimens. I have found my skin to be a lot better and brighter since using ?

Hi, which one of the ordinary do you use please? I have rosacea and very dry skin especially my forehead it’s like sandpaper! I’ve tried so many products for my rosacea and spent so much money I’m starting to give up.

Ive been using Facetheory products and they are fab for aging skin with acne. Make sure to look for a discount code as they regularly give them out. Products last ages and are vegan.

I suffer really bad from dry skin and psoriasis and since going through the menopause it’s been horrendous plus really itchy skin I have been using a range called wild and wood they do bath milks and soft oat bags , I can’t tell you the difference my psoriasis has completely cleared they recommend a certain bath milk called wild in the forest and soft oat bags that you wet and use like a sponge on your skin they have recommendations for all skin issues I can’t recommend them enough it really soothes and relaxes you and they even put in petals and dried fruit to put in your bath, I was really down about the appearance of my skin particularly with my legs and didn’t want to wear shorts or a dress but now it’s all gone I’ll have no problem wearing shorts just a shame about the weather !! Hope this helps Justine

I’ve historically had oily skin ...until about a year ago (46 yrs old now). My skin has lost all ability to produce oils due to this new season in life, so I’ve been using vitamin E oil and it’s keeping my skin soft and looking alive.

My biggest problem is night sweat, but I get very bad migraines and I am on a lot of medications. My Gyno put me on Norethindrone 5mg, I really love it but I have been on it for 2 years.

I have too much pigmentation, any solution for that.
