CBD and menopause

I would like to know whether anyone has tried CBD (cannabidiol) to ease their symptoms. If so, what has been your experience and do you have a suggestion for daily dosage?

I live in England part of the year. The CBD that we get here isn’t an adequate strength to have a positive impact. I’d be curious to hear about the results from people in the States.

Hi I’ve been using cbd oil for over 18 months. I had my hysterectomy in December 2019 so am now menopausal and up to 5 months on I was ok but then recently I’ve been getting really bad anxiety and it doesn’t seem to be helping. I feel ‘normal’ anxiety cbd oil is good for but this menopausal anxiety is something else. If it carries on blighting my days I have been given hrt gel so I will be trying it soon.

You may not be on a high quality CBD. Try acupuncture. You may find it will work for you

So I am a mature psychology student and I have tried CBT courses several times through my 47 years of life, including recently in an attempt to deal with my PMMD which is worsening as I approach menopause. However I feel CBT alone addresses only one part (cognitive) of a interrelated complex picture. DBT however seems to incorporate much more, whilst learning similar skills to CBT. Interdisciplinary therapies I am learning, whilst requiring much more effort and time, seem to be showing evidence of higher effectiveness. I would recommend considering DBT as well as CBT for more effective results. DBT stands for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and includes mindfulness, interpersonal interaction, emotional regulation and crisis management. DBT takes account not only of cognitive factors but also biological and social aspects. And I’m sure we all agree symptoms of menopause are greatly affected by these factors! I personally found it difficult to apply CBT skills without my DBT skills. PMMD Pre-menstrual Mood Disorder. The daily checklist in this app align really nicely with DBT sills too! ?

I posted this to learn more about the benefits of CBD on menopause symptoms. I take CBD, not for a specific reason, but for overall health. I have mild symptoms, hot flashes, night sweats and sometimes chills. There are days that my patience is less than desirable, but nothing major. I would like to find a dosage ratio to help me, if anyone has advice.

There is no standard dose, everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different. My understanding is that quality and dosage is key, you will have to experiment. I prefer gummies, I felt no different with liquid. Also, CBN is for the nervous system instead of CBD.

Hi Elisabete, great question. CBD has become quite popular for managing menopausal symptoms. Many women say that it improves their sleep, moodiness, anxiety, and even hot flashes. It’s a relatively new therapy though, so we still don’t have a lot of answers about dosing and efficacy. There hasn’t been much research on its effects on menopausal women, but there are some studies that show it helps with issues like mood and sleep. What’s good about CBD is that even though it’s a chemical compound found in marijuana, it offers potential medicinal benefits without causing you to feel high or altered. Something to keep in mind: concentrations of CBD can vary even within the same product, and some people can also experience side effects like nausea and diarrhea. Definitely check with your doctor to make sure CBD will not interact with any health conditions or medications you are taking, and keep us posted on your experience!

I have struggled with anxiety my whole life and I can tell you it does work but along with acupuncture and meditation. My anxiety has been worse with peri menopause and my OBGYN wants to put me in antidepressant for my depression and hot flashes. Have anyone had some success with that

I was put on meds for anxiety that made my hot flashes non existent. I assumed the hot flashes went away because my stressors went away. I was wrong. At my doctors suggestion, I weaned off of the meds and the hot flashes came back immediately! I take Cymbalta (yes, I went back on it.) I don’t like being on meds but I feel so much better being on them

I have not had any luck with any CBD for anything….anxiety, depression, chronic pain. I was really hopeful but it just didn’t work out.

According to Tommy Chong only the nano size cbd under your tongue really works as anything larger a no d consumed any other way has to pass through your stomach, liver, and kidneys so it’s effects are low if any. Makes sense to me and I’m too poor to buy it but definitely worth trying if you can. There’s a website or page just look up Tommy Chongs and cbd. I know I have absolutely no affiliation with the website or Tommy Chong I wish I did he seems pretty cool. Just thought I would share.
