As lockdowns lift and the weather heats up, I’d like to crowdsource a summer reading list from this wonderful crowd! Because these times are challenging enough, I’m requesting suggestions for books that tip towards uplifting, humorous, or adventurous. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts ?

Hi Daniella, I’ve just finished Sophie Kinsella - I’ve hit your number, it’s a very lighthearted, easy read. I’ve also just started The Bee Keeper of Aleppo - I forgot I had this, and it seems really good. Enjoy the summer ☀️?

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Is a great read. It’s not light but certainly is adventurous

The Farm by Joanne Ramos, and the Old Filth trilogy by Jane Gardam. Also Bridget Christie’s A Book for Her(and him if he can read) and any of Sara Pascoe’s books. Bernadine Evaristo’s Girl, Woman, Other is a great read, too. Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s The Shadow of the Wind is on my nightstand to re-read.

The Shadow of The Wind is a beautiful book. I had just been to Barcelona when I read it and could picture all the places he described. Lovely book ?

Perhaps not quite what you have in mind but I’m reading New Menopausal Years The Wise Woman Way by Susun S. Weed and I’m finding it very positive and uplifting. It’s helping me see the “change” in a positive light.

I discovered a series of books written by Miss Read which describe village life set in the English Cotswolds. Simple but thoughtfully written. Most enjoyable!

I’m enjoying by Diane Chamberlain - the books are easy to read, Well written and absorbing stories, whilst grappling with a deep issue.

Since the lockdown I have read at least 40 psychological thrillers. If you find that too heavy I’d start with a lighter read ie Agatha Christie. Happy reading.
