Body Acne

I’ve been experiencing severe back acne! I’ve recently had a blood test showing I am definitely in full blown menopause so I know this is directly related. I’m not getting it anywhere else. I’m grateful for that, but the bacne is a bit painful, itchy, and embarrassing! Any advice?– Nicole, Colorado

Hi Nicole, it’s so weird that having had an acne free life I too have the same but in my groin which is as you say painful and embarrassing and leaves scars too. The only thing I have used which has relieved this to some extent is using fragrance free bath gel but mostly I use baby bath which is very gentle. Maybe think about your clothes detergent too, fairy gentle seems to help. Another problem to put up with hey but you seem to be a ‘silver lining’ kind of person. Regards. J xx

Try asking the GP for soolantra- this is a cream for rosacea but it really kills off deep under skin acne which is also a more unknown side effect of having rosacea

Hi Nicole I also suffered from back acne as well as face and legs pimples, due to some food sensitivities that had discovered at the start of menopause, I cleaned up my diet and eliminated dairy, wheat ,Refined sugar and fried foods,,, the benefits were many clear skin , no body odour, increased energy,, food journaling and any symptoms you experienced, make it easier to identify Problem food , symptom patterns or triggers may be more noticeable.

You could ask your gp for zineryt lotion - I get it on my chest and it works for me, it’s got a very mild antibiotic in it. On a side note, using coconut oil instead of normal moisturisers also seem to keep it minimal once it has been cleared up. Hope it works for you!! xx

I too have been affected for some years now. The acne appears in my groin and around my breast area. The only advice my doctor gave is to use barrier creams. I have found sudacrem helpful but it does mark clothing. I also use E45 cream and those acne patches you can find on Amazon - but only the large ones help ease the discomfort from swelling as the normal ones are too small.

Hi, I have come up with horrible spots everywhere since menopause started but I got some salicylic acid from Amazon and that really helps. It dries the skin a bit but you can mix it in with a moisturiser.
