Acupuncture is the insertion of thin needles through the skin at strategic points on the body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, it is most commonly used to treat pain, stress, and improve overall wellness. One study of menopausal women found that acupuncture relieved several symptoms that were associated with hormonal imbalance. Participants attended acupuncture for eight treatments and reported a significant improvement in hot flashes, sleep quality, memory problems, and anxiety. The effects of acupuncture lasted at least six months or longer. Other studies have found that women find menopause symptoms relief after fewer sessions.

I had an oophorectomy (a single ovary removed) due to Endometriosis. No one warned me that this could cause early menopause! So I had no idea what was happening to me. I started to get a broad spectrum of symptoms (which I now fully realise were the menopause) but GP couldn’t help. Out of desperation I went to a well recommended Chinese acupuncturist. This treatment rescued me. I felt better immediately. I had regular treatment for quite a while but found it was taking its toll on me financially so I asked the NHS (I’m in the UK) if there was any chance of getting acupuncture through them. I did indeed get acupuncture on the NHS back then and even though there was none of the atmosphere or authenticity of having the treatment done by a Chinese doctor, and I was left on my own in a dull and empty treatment room with drab hospital curtains, I was amazed, it still worked! So I can highly recommend it. ?

Was wondering if accupuncture helped anyone with memory function, I’m taking bio ID hormones for other symptoms, including hot flashes, sleep disruption, anxiety, which has been a game changer. I’m still frustrated with forgetting things, absent words, recall, understanding stuff, foggy brain, and I’m studying a MA and don’t have time for this! Would love to know any stories on whether it could help. Thanks

I only had one acupuncture treatment. It was with a Massage Therapist that I had been seeing for a couple of years. She transitioned from massage to acupuncture-so I gave it a try....it was very effective-uplifting and ‘cooling’ (the hot flashes went away for a little bit). Unfortunately, I did not keep it up because my therapist doesn’t practice in my area and because of COVID restrictions. But I will go back to it.
